Over the past year there have been many times when we thought the U.S. mainstream media had finally reached rock bottom and couldn't possibly sink any lower. Amazingly, it has somehow managed to continuously prove us wrong by figuring out new innovative ways to further humiliate itself. If we had to write a book about the best ways to destroyyour own credibility, it would be impossible for us to come up with any ideas that are more effective than what CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, and Washington Post have done to themselves!
After months of the mainstream media pushing an invented narrative that the Trump campaign colluded and coordinated with the Russian government to steal the electionfrom Hillary Clinton - without anybody in the media demanding any proof, President Trump thought of the perfect way to expose the truth. On March 4th, Trump posted an ingenious tweet, accusing President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower shortly before the November election. Suddenly, every talking head in the mainstream media began demanding that Trump provide proof that Obama tapped Trump Tower. When the NY Times reported on Trump's tweet the following morning, the headline read: "Trump, Offering No Evidence, Says Obama Tapped His Phones".
Amazingly, only 2 1/2 weeks earlier on February 14th, the NY Times published a story: "Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts with Russian Intelligence". The article citing four unnamed U.S. government officials accused members of the Trump campaign of making, "repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election". Despite its anonymous sources offering no proof/evidence, the NY Times gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn't express any skepticism. By automatically assuming Trump's wiretap claim to be baseless, the mainstream media is showing a clear double-standard that Americans are picking up on.
When the NY Times or Washington Post says that it got its information from four anonymous U.S. government sources, you must automatically view it as a major red flag and take the information with a grain of salt. Any time the liberal media cites an anonymous source, it is best to assume that the writer has invented "fake news", caving into pressure from management to support their anti-Trump and anti-Russia narratives. When liberal media writers begin making claims to have verified their information with four, five, or six unnamed government sources - it always points to desperation of some sort, and a need to create the illusion of a consensus.
How did four anonymous U.S. government sources obtain the information that got leaked to the media? The NY Times said it was from "intercepted communications" and elaborated that the data was, "not limited to Trump campaign officials, and included other associates of Mr. Trump." So basically, the NY Times admitted on February 14th that widespread tapping was taking place - with everyone even remotely connected to Trump having their communications intercepted and unmasked by intelligence officials.
On March 22nd, Representative Devin Nunes, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, announced that the U.S. intelligence community "incidentally collected" information on members of President Trump's transition team - with details about the incoming Trump administration being widely disseminated in intelligence community reports despite containing little or no foreign intelligence value. Nunes confirmed that individual names appear to have been illegally unmasked. Not surprisingly, the media attacked the messenger in a desperate attempt to protect Obama.
On the night that the Nunes news broke, CNN decided to completely ignore the story - instead choosing to recycle its same old phony/fake narrative in a top story, "US officials: Info suggests Trump associates may have coordinated with Russians". If not for the article alluding to FBI Director James Comey's "bombshell announcement" made two days earlier that it is investigating the Trump campaign's ties to Russia - there would be nothing to differentiate this article from dozens of other phony/fake propaganda articles about Trump and Russia published by CNN in recent months. Near the end of its article, CNN actually admitted that it was fake news by saying, "But other U.S. officials who spoke to CNN say it's premature to draw that inference from the information gathered so far since it's largely circumstantial."
It has become widely accepted in the mainstream media and political establishment that the Russian government was responsible for the hacks of the DNC server and email account of Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta - despite the fact that it has never been proven. The FBI was never allowed to examine the DNC server and properly investigate the initial DNC hack. Instead, the FBI relied upon the analysis conducted by a private company CrowdStrike, who got paid by the DNC.
According to CrowdStrike: 1) Russian Malware was used in the hack, 2) a Russian Cyrillic keyboard was used by the hackers, 3) the time stamps indicated that the hackers used a Russian time zone, and 4) the IP address pointed to a Russian address. WikiLeaks just revealed this month that the CIA maintains a large inventory of hacking techniques stolen from the malware produced by foreign states like Russia and uses it to leave the fingerprints of the groups it stole the attack techniques from. If Russia was behind the hack - as sophisticated as they are - they undoubtedly would've used the malware, keyboard, time zone, and IP address of another country.
Originally, CrowdStrike said they were moderately confident in their conclusion that Russia was behind the hack. Later, CrowdStrike changed its assessment to being extremely confident it was Russia - based on their supposed finding that the same malware used in the DNC hack was also used to hack a Ukrainian military artillery app, resulting in the loss of 80% of the its howitzers used in Ukraine’s war with Russian-backed separatists. This week, it was exposed that CrowdStrike misinterpreted the data of IISS that it used to assert these claims - and made no attempt to verify its conclusions before making them. The Ukrainian military has just confirmed that the reason for the dramatic reduction of its artillery assets was due to a reallocation of units to airborne forces - not losses from combat.
CrowdStrike's Russian/Ukrainian report was one of the key reports used to bolster the claim that Russia hacked the DNC, but the report has now been completely debunked - with CrowdStrike forced to make major corrections to it. Comey during Senate testimony called CrowdStrike a "highly respected private company" - but their credibility has now been completely destroyed. Amazingly, the mainstream media has totally ignored this major development.
