The Only ETF We Own Hits New 2025 High

The only ETF that NIA's President owns iShares MSCI Brazil ETF (EWZ) is up by 1.13% today to a new 2025 high of $27.25 per share.

EWZ includes a position in Vale (VALE) owner of the Voisey’s Bay nickel mine in Labrador.

In mid-1994, Robert Friedland's Diamond Fields Resources was trading for $0.20 per share as the company was searching for diamonds in Labrador. They discovered a massive nickel, copper, and cobalt deposit called Voisey’s Bay. Within one year, Diamond Fields surged from $0.20 per share up to $174 per share. In early 1996, Diamond Fields Resources was acquired by Inco for $4.3 billion.

It was Robert Friedland's very real discovery at Voisey’s Bay that created the speculative environment that allowed the Busang boom to happen with Bre-X rising from $0.30 per share up to $286 per share (even though Busang wasn't real) with dozens of other gold explorers rising by 500%-5,000%.

This is why if Solaris Resources (TSX: SLS) gets acquired for $2 billion it will allow Augusta Gold (TSX: G) to rise to its fair value of $9 per share.

Today, it is mostly legitimate companies that exist on the TSX and TSX Venture (New Found Gold is the only company that we have always felt seems questionable and it has nothing to do with Eric Sprott he is a good person who got tricked). The closest equivalent to a Bre-X fraud today would actually be MicroStrategy (MSTR) or Tether.

Expanded Silicon is a very real gold project worth $5 billion directly adjacent to Augusta Gold (TSX: G) and there have been more transactions taking place in this Beatty Gold District than any other district in the world.
